India Day at Dwight - May 8, 2008
"Tell us, if there were one thing we could do for your village, what would it be?" "With all respect, Shahib, you have little to teach us in strength and toughness. And we don't envy you your restless spirits. Perhaps we are happier than you. But we would like to see our children go to school. Of all the things that you have, learning is the one we most desire for our children." Conversation between Sir Edmond Hillary (first man to climb Mt. Everest) and Ukrein Serpa (Mt. Everest Guide) from Schoolhouse in the Cloud.

UN Youth Summit - April 16, 2008
While the UN's World Summit was taking place just a few rooms away, the ICL had its own summit for students on April 16, 2008. The aftermath of Hurrican Katrina, homelessness, and equal education were just a few of the critical topics discussed by student leaders from schools across New York City including St Ann's, Dalton, Horace Mann, Spence and Brooklyn Friends during the ICL's Seveth Annual Youth Summit. It was a sobering experience and a wake-up call to all as we learned about how people in America and abroad are dealing with war, poverty and geographic displacement.
